What makes you happy? Everyone has a different answer to that question. For Frank Ficazzola, President and Owner of SI Solar, happiness means solar. Educating consumers about the benefits of solar power means he’s doing something positive for homeowners and the planet.
After working in the financial services industry for years, Frank decided that he wanted to do something different—and something that makes a difference. After acquiring solar for his own home and loving the benefits of free electricity and helping reduce carbon emissions, he put all his heart and “energy” into solar.
The Hunt for Happiness Week
The third week of January has been designated “the Hunt for Happiness” week by the Society of Happy People. Yes, that is a real thing. The Society explores how we define happiness and what we can do to achieve long-lasting happiness.
While you may not think that solar can make you happy like Frank from SI Solar, consider that solar can:
- Save you money
- Reduce or eliminate your electricity bill
- Increase your home’s resale value
- Help the planet
- Reduce green house gas emissions
- Contribute to a better world for you, your children and future generations
Where Are All the Happy People?
In case you were wondering, the happiest people on earth are all located in Northern European countries, according to the World Population Review’s 2021 report. The top 7 countries with the happiest people are:
- Finland – ranked #1 for 4 years in a row!
- Denmark
- Switzerland
- Iceland
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Sweden
Out of the 149 countries that were analyzed, the US came in at #19.
And if you look at the US, the top 10 states with the happiest people are:
- Hawaii
- Utah
- Minnesota
- New Jersey
- Maryland
- California
- North Dakota
- Iowa
- Idaho
- Connecticut
And in terms of age, the Social Indicators Research Journal found that people are happiest between the ages of 30-34.
It’s Never Too Late To Be Happy
If you don’t live in Finland, or Hawaii, and you’re not in your early 30’s, don’t fret. It’s never too late to pursue your dreams and find your happiness. The new year is the perfect time to reflect on how you can become more happy in your own life. Consider these thoughts:
- Stop and really think about what makes you happy
- Connect with like-minded people
- Don’t just think about it; pursue things that spark joy
- Don’t sweat the small stuff
- It’s the little things that matter
- Be thankful every day, not just around the holidays
- Smile more
- Pay it forward; give back
- Focus on the main parts of family, friends, work and/or your religion that mean the most to you
